Ann Kathleen Schumacher, age 44, passed away on Tuesday, March 23, 2010 at her home in Leoti, Kansas. Ann was born February 4, 1966 in Kansas City, MO. She was the beloved daughter of mother Kay Perry and father Robert Perry and his wife Judy. Ann is survived by her children, Megan, Miranda and Matthew, her sister Lisa Drum, brother-in-law Dave and nephews Nick and Kyle. Ann leaves behind her loving friend Eric Hoeme, as well as many aunts,uncles and cousins from all over the county. Ann had been a Leoti resident since 1989 following her graduation from Kansas State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Social Work where she was also a member of Alpha Xi Delta women's sorority. She was a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the Scott City office of the Department of Area Mental Health. Ann earned her Master's in Social Work degree from Denver University in 1991. Ann worked as a social worker with Scott County USD 466, she worked with children and their families at United Methodist Youthville before serving as director of behavioral health at Garden City's St. Catherine's Hospital. She also was instrumental in bringing primary behavioral health services to the community through a grant at Greeley County Family Medical Practice.Ann was President-Elect of the National Association of Rural Mental Health Workers in Washington, D.C. Ann was an active member of the Leoti United Methodist Church in Leoti, Kansas, where she was a leader in their "God Squad" youth program. She participated in many Bible study programs and demonstrated her faith in her daily life and love for others. Leoti, Kansas Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at the United Methodist Church in Leoti, Kansas with the Reverends Mike Howard and Rick Just officiating. Private graveside services will be held later at Evergreen Cemetery In Red Oak, Iowa. Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday and 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday with the family in attendance from 5:00pm to 6:00pm at Price & Sons Funeral Home in Leoti, Kansas. Memorials may be given to the Schumacher Children's Education Fund in care of the funeral home. E condolences may be sent to the family through the funeral home website at priceandsons.com
