Glenda Mae Pointer, age 75, died Friday, November 20, 2009 at the Kearny County Hospital, Lakin Kansas. She was born August 24, 1934 in Syracuse, Kansas the daughter of Leslie and Edith Donnell Garner.
She was raised in Kendall, Kansas and graduated from Kendall High School. She attended business school at Friends University in Wichita and worked in Wichita until marrying.
On August 11, 1954, she married Floyd Elias Pointer in Raton, New Mexico. He survives. The couple moved to San Luis Obispo, California in 1956 where they lived for 4 years and then spent 13 years in Las Vegas, Nevada before relocating to Holcomb, Kansas. Glenda was a homemaker who also enjoyed work during the 1980's as a teacher's aide at the Valentine School. She later worked at Wal-Mart and for the US Postal service as a part- time rural route mail carrier.
Other Survivors Include: One Sister, Linda Vance of Phoenix, Arizona, Two Sons, Kent Pointer of Gillette, Wyoming, and Mike Pointer of Holcomb, Kansas, One Daughter, Judith Pointer Jia of Danville, Kentucky; and
Four Grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Floyd Eugene Pointer and a grandson, Andrew Pointer.
Memorial Services will be held at 10:00am (MT) on Tuesday, November 24, 2009 @ the United Methodist Church in Kendall, Kansas with Rev. Joe Gould presiding.
The family requests memorials be given to the Kendall United Methodist Church in care of Price & Sons Funeral Home of Garden City.
