Fred Norton, age 86, passed away on Monday, June 1, 2009 at the Homestead Health and Rehabilitation Center in Garden City, Kansas. He was born on July 1, 1922 in Marienthal, Kansas, the son of Ben Edd and Emma Caroline Hiddey Norton. A World War II Army Veteran, he was a resident of Pierceville, Kansas since 1990 moving from Scott City, Kansas. He was a farm hand.
He was affiliated with the Pierceville Federated Church in Pierceville, Kansas and was a member of the VFW in Garden City, Kansas.
On April 30, 1958 he married Mary Alice Anderson in Garden City, Kansas. She passed away on January 10, 1975 in Garden City, Kansas. On July 27, 1976 he married Roberta Lyon in Scott City, Kansas. She passed away on May 30, 2007 in Pierceville, Kansas.
Survivors include One Daughter - Phyllis Newberry of Garden City, Kansas, One Son - Marvin Lyon of Sterling, Kansas, Two Sisters - Edna Mae McIntyre of Kirbyville, Missouri, Mary Alice Stetson of Arkansas, One Son In Law - Dennis Basye of Sedgwick, Kansas, Eight Grandchildren, and Ten Great Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his Parents, Two Wives, One Daughter, One Brother, and One Grandson.
Graveside Services will be at the Scott County Cemetery in Scott City, Kansas at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 3, 2009 with Terry Major of the Pierceville Federated Church presiding.
Interment will be in the Scott County Cemetery in Scott City, Kansas.
Memorials may be given to the Homestead Health & Rehabilitation Center or the Pierceville Federated Church % of Price & Son Funeral Home in Garden City, Kansas.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Price & Sons Funeral Home in Garden City, Kansas.
