Garden City, Kansas Edna Ernestine Nelsen, age 87, died August 9, 2006 at the Western Plains Medical Complex in Dodge City, Kansas. She was born on August 10, 1918 in Plevna, Kansas the daughter of John and Minnie Margaret Gede Nusser. She had been a resident of their farm near Copeland, Kansas or of Garden City since 1942. She was a loving mother, a homemaker and a retired Avon Representative. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, the Lutheran Womens Missionary League and was a 10 year volunteer for the Meals on Wheels Program. On February 10, 1942 she married Earl A. Nelsen in Garden City, Kansas. He died April 14, 1960 on the farm near Copeland. Survivors Include: Two Sons; Mark Nelsen of Garden City, Kansas and Donald Nelsen of Copeland, Kansas: Two Daughters; Margaret Carlstead of Cheyenne, Wyoming and Norma Jean Bauder of Fleming, Colorado: One Brother; Herb Nusser of Greeley, Colorado: Three Sisters; Ruth Wiens of Pratt, Kansas, Lydia Springer of Denver, Colorado and Leora Horst of Denver, Colorado: 11 Grandchildren and 7 Great-Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a brother â Ed Nusser, a sister â Grace Greenwood, a grandson â Douglas Carlstead, a great-grandson - Noah Smith, a great-granddaughter â Abigail Smith and a son-in-law â Jerry Carlstead. Committal Services will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, August 12, 2006 at the Valley View Cemetery in Garden City, Kansas. Memorial Services will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, August 12, 2006 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Garden City with Pastor Lyle Stuehrenberg presiding. Friends may call from 10:00 am until 8:00 pm on Friday at the Price & Sons Funeral Home in Garden City. The family requests memorials be given to the Trinity Lutheran Church, the Lutheran Hour or to the Billy Graham ministries all in care of Price & Sons Funeral Home of Garden City.
