Robert McCandless

Robert W. McCandless, age 83, passed away on Saturday, March 27, 2010 at the Scott County Hospital in Scott City, Kansas. He was born on January 25, 1927 in Emporia, Kansas, the son of N.W. and Wilma Richardson McCandless. A resident of Scott City, Kansas since 1961 moving from Lebo, Kansas, he was a farmer and motel owner/operator. His memberships included the United Methodist Church, A.F.A. Sunday School Class, Tuesday Lunch Bunch and the Scott City Country Club all of Scott City. On February 6, 1948 he married Treva Mallary in Emporia, Kansas. She survives. Survivors Include his wife Treva McCandless of Scott City, Kansas; one son Mark & Suzanne McCandless of Scott City, KS; one daughter Kim & Barry Beard of Manitou Springs, Colorado; five granddaughters including Leslie Piggott of Buda, Texas, Marie Henderson of Scott City, Kansas, Laura Beard of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Hilary Beard of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Emily Beard of Colorado Springs, Colorado; one grandson Thomas Beard of Manitou Springs, Colorado; Three Great Grandchildren - Mallory Henderson of Scott City, Kansas, Nathan Henderson of Scott City, Kansas, Abigail Piggott of Buda, Texas; and two nephews -Doug Koefoed of San Rafael, California and Drake Koefoed of Louisiana. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant daughter - Jill, a sister-in-law and a brother-in-law. Funeral Services will be at the United Methodist Church in Scott City, Kansas at 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 29, 2010. Rev. Dennis Carter will officiate. Interment will be at the Scott County Cemetery in Scott City, Kansas. Memorials are suggested to Camp Lakeside or the Silent Angels Animal Rescue and Shelter in care of Price & Sons Funeral Home. There will be no visitation times.
