Garden City, Kansas Gordon A. Lee, age 87, died Friday, February 22, 2008 at the St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City, Kansas. He was born April 6, 1920 in Chetopa, Kansas he son of Hershel Vance and Sarah Alice Leap Lee. He moved from Southeast Kansas to Garden City in 1948 and founded Lee Construction in 1950. He worked with his sons for several years building fine homes in and around the Garden City area retiring in the early 1980's but still serving today as chairman of the board. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the American Legion both for over 50 years and was a lifetime member of the Elks Lodge all of Garden City, Kansas. He also belonged to the Associated General Contractors of Kansas, the Wheatbelt SAMS and he was a WWII US Army Air Corps Veteran. He enjoyed spending time at the zoo, traveling, hunting, fishing, gardening and playing bridge. On April 26, 1942 he married Helen Triplett in Edna, Kansas. She survives. Other Survivors Include: Three Sons; Gail Lee of Garden City, Kansas Richard Lee of Garden City, Kansas and Mark Lee of Garden City, Kansas: One Daughter; Carolyn Davis of Wichita, Kansas: One Sister; Mary Alice Keith of Coffeyville, Kansas; Five Grandchildren and Three Great-Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Walter, Robert & Alan Lee. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30am on Tuesday, February 26, 2008 at the First United Methodist Church in Garden City, Kansas with the Rev. David Bell presiding. Friends may call from 1pm-8pm on Sunday and from 10am-8pm Monday at the Price & Sons Funeral Home in Garden City. Interment will be in the Valley View Cemetery in Garden City, Kansas. Memorials may be given to the Western Kansas Community Foundation or to the Friends Of The Lee Richardson Zoo both in care of Price & Sons Funeral Home of Garden City, Kansas.
