David J. Laudick, age 60, passed away on Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at his home in Scott City, Kansas. He was born on October 1, 1948 in Beaver, Kansas, the son of John & Helen Hickel Laudick.
He attended Hoisington High School, graduating in 1966 and then went on to attend Emporia State University in Emporia, Kansas and graduated 1970. David then received his Masters Degree from Fort Hays State University. In 1972 he moved to Scott City, Kansas from Hoisington, Kansas and began teaching both English and Debate in the Scott City High School. David was very instrumental in expanding and growing the debate program. In 2001 he received the Kansas Student Council Advisor of The Year Award for 2000 to 2001. He retired from teaching in 2006.
David had a love for Motorcycles, reading, and movies. He had a keen intellect with a sharp wit and always worked to make others laugh. He loved working with photography and computers in his spare time.
David was an active member of the Knights of Columbus, taught college courses at the Bryan Education Center in Scott City and assisted in CCD classes at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Scott City where he was a member.
Survivors include One Aunt - Lucille Brannon of Great Bend, Kansas, Several Cousins and good friends - Mark & Nora Burnett and sons of Scott City.
He was preceded in death by his Parents.
Memorial Services will be at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Scott City, Kansas at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 18, 2009 with the Fr. Warren Stecklein presiding.
Inurnment will be held at a later date at St. John Church Cemetery in Hoisington, Kansas.
Memorials may be given to the St. Joseph Catholic Church or David Laudick Scholarship Fund % Price & Sons Funeral Home.
