Garden City Gary L. Embree, age 56, passed away on Saturday, August 12, 2006 as the result of an automobile accident in Finney County, Kansas. He was born on January 2, 1950 in Dodge City, Kansas, the son of Gene and Frances Wheeler Embree. A lifetime resident of Garden City, he graduated from Garden City High School in 1968. He was a master craftsman, an inventor (holder of several patents), an avid machinist and vintage car enthusiast who enjoyed rebuilding and fixing old cars and he was a survivor of lymphoma. He loved listening to classic rock and roll music and spending time with his many friends and three wonderful dogs. A devoted and loving father and friend, Gary took pleasure in helping others in small ways On August 7, 1969 he married Mary L. Miner in Garden City, Kansas. Survivors: Wife Mary Embree Garden City, Kansas Two Daughters Tina Embree Seattle, WA Holly Embree San Francisco, CA Mother Frances Embree Garden City, Kansas Sister Debra Hemmert Lexington, NE He was preceded in death his Father â Gene Embree, and One Sister â Lana Embree. A "Celebration of Life Service" will be held at 1:30pm on Friday, Sept. 1, 2006 at the Presbyterian Church in Garden City with Rev. Dave Sweley presiding. There will be no calling times and inurnment will be held at a later date. In lieu of sympathy cards, family and friends are encouraged to share their favorite and humorous memories that demonstrated why Gary was such a unique and special person at the service and/or at the Time-Out Sports Grill where the family will receive friends following the ceremony. The family requests memorials be given to the Gary Embree Memorial Fund in care of Price & Sons Funeral Home of Garden City.
