Winona M. Holzmeister, age 97, died Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at the Homestead Health & Rehabilitation Center in Garden City, Kansas. She was born October 22, 1912 in Portland, Oregon the daughter of Frank & Rose Zimmerman Strohmeier. A Garden City resident since 2006, moving from Salina, Kansas, she was a homemaker.
She was a member of the St. Mary Catholic Church's of Garden City and Salina and the Sacred Heart Altar Society of Salina, Kansas. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, making rugs, reading and watching KU basketball.
On October 7, 1935, she married Thomas Damien Holzmeister in Hays, Kansas. He passed away on November 10, 1978 in Salina, Kansas.
Survivors include: Two Daughters, Barbara McKenna of Garden City, Kansas and Beth Commerford of Shawnee, Kansas; 8 Grandchildren, Thirteen Great-Grandchildren and 2 Great-Great Grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Williams and 3 stillborn infants.
Vigil and Rosary services will be held at 7:00pm on Sunday, March 21, 2010 at the Price & Sons Funeral Home in Garden City.
The Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00am on Monday, March 22, 2010 at the St. Mary Catholic Church with Father Francis Khoi Nguyen presiding.
Friends may call from 1-6:00pm on Sunday at Price & Sons Funeral Home in Garden City, Kansas.
Interment will be at 4:00pm on Monday in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Salina, Kansas with Deacon Ken Dreiling presiding.
