William L. Yost, age 92, died Tuesday, September 5, 2006 at the St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City, Kansas. He was born December 17, 1913 in Modoc, Kansas the son of Fred & Lillie Oppliger Yost. A Garden City resident since 1936 moving from Ransom, Kansas, he was a retired agent for the Railway Express Agency in Garden City.
He was a member of the Finney County Historical Society & Friends of the Lee Richardson Zoo, both of Garden City and the Transportation Communications International Union and he was a WWII U.S. Army Veteran.
On April 2, 1947, he married Mildred Englert at Wichita, Kansas. She died on December 18, 2003 at Garden City, Kansas.
Survivors include: 3 Sons: Robert Yost of Knoxville, Tennessee, John Yost of Casper, Wyoming and Douglas Yost of Overland Park, Kansas; 4 Grandsons: Jeffrey & Scott Yost of Casper, Wyoming and Ben & Jonathan Yost of Knoxville, Tennessee; 3 Nieces: Linda Johnson of Iola, Kansas, Joyce Ross of Lincoln, Nebraska and Barbara Schreiber of Ransom, Kansas.
He was preceded in death by 5 brothers & 2 sisters
Funeral services will be held at 10:30am on Friday, September 8, 2006 at the Price & Sons Funeral Home in Garden City, Kansas with the Reverend Robert Nuckolls officiating.
Friends may call from 10am-8pm Thursday @ Price & Sons Funeral Home in Garden City. Interment will be in the Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Garden City, Kansas with full military graveside rites.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be given to the Finney County Historical Society in care of Price & Sons Funeral Home of Garden City.
