Vurlyn Larea Gallaway, age 70, died Sunday, May 11, 2014 at the St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City, Kansas. She was born June 26, 1943 in Garden City, Kansas the daughter of Noah Paul and Nina Mildred Will Hummer. A graduate of GCHS and GCCC, she worked as a secretary for 20 years at Pueblo Chemical, 8 years for Monfort, retiring as a transcriptionist for St. Catherine Hospital.
She attended the Pierceville Federated Church, was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, past CMT of Toastmasters, and Spouse of Past District Governor of Lions International.
On February 15, 1961, she married Edmond Lee Gallaway Sr. in Denver, Colorado. He survives.
Other Survivors Include:
One Son, Edmond Lee II (& Connie) Gallaway of Garden City, Kansas;
Two Daughters, Rhonda C. Gallaway of Garden City, Kansas and
Jana LeAnn (& Noel) Biesecker of New Milford, Pennsylvania;
Three Grandchildren and Three Great-Grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, William Paul Hummer.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 17, 2014 at the Price & Sons Funeral Home in Garden City, Kansas.
There will be no public visitation.
Memorials may be given to the Lions Club Sight Foundation in care of Price & Sons Funeral Home of Garden City.
