Vivian Engle

Vivian Lee (Kinlund) Engle, age 84, passed away on Saturday, September 29, 2012 at Greeley County Long Term Care facility in Tribune, Kansas. Vivian was born on April 15, 1928 in Geuda Springs, Kansas, the daughter of Harold E. Kinlund and Georgia Lawson Kinlund. She has been a resident of Tribune since her sophomore year of high school. Vivian was an active part of the community and held several jobs in Tribune. In her early years she was a clerk at the grocery store. She worked for many years at the ASCS office, and at the Tribune Clinic from 1962 until 1983. After Russell retired in 1988, they spent much of the next 10 years traveling in their fifth-wheel, spending most winters at the Tip-O-Texas RV resort in Pharr, Texas. Vivian was a Christian and a very active member of the United Methodist Church in Tribune. She was a wife, mom, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her life was centered on family, church and community. She treasured her large extended family and her close relationship with her siblings. She has many special nieces, nephews, and cousins who have enriched her life. She was blessed with several close friends, and meeting with them for coffee at the senior center was the best way to begin her day. On June 3, 1947, she married Everett Russell Engle, Jr. (Russ). They enjoyed 59 years of marriage. Russ preceded her in death on November 10, 2006. Vivian is survived by two daughters, Linda Eustace and husband Steve, Grapevine, Texas, and Wanda Davis and husband Tom, Loveland, Colorado. Vivian was special grandma to five very fortunate young people. Her grandchildren are Ryan Davis, Blake Davis, and wife Leah, Loveland, Colorado; Drew Davis and wife Allyson, Broomfield, Colorado; Melissa Brooks Harris and husband Justin; and Matthew Brooks, Tribune. Great-grandchildren are Logan James Harris and Branson Russell Harris, Tribune; Hudson Everett Davis, Broomfield; and Harmony Gregg, Ft. Collins, Colorado. Vivian is also survived by her twin sister, Verna Harris, and husband Charles and sister, Ella Griffin, Tribune; brothers, Nat Kinlund, and wife Diane, Longmont, Colorado; Neal Kinlund, San Marcos, Texas; sister-in-law Mary Kinlund, Tribune; sister-in-law, Carolyn Engle, Lee's Summit, Missouri. Vivian is also survived by her special caregiver, friend, advocate and "4th daughter", Traci Osbment. In addition to her husband Russ, Vivian was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Nina Engle Brooks, brother, Arlyss Kinlund, brother-in-law, Lyle Griffin, brother-in-law, C.Wayne Engle, and sister-in-law, Becky Kinlund. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m (MST) on Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at the United Methodist Church in Tribune, Kansas with Jeri Smith officiating and son-in-law Tom Davis delivering the eulogy. Burial will be in Greeley County cemetery in Tribune, Kansas. Friends may call from 10:00 am until 8:00 pm Tuesday at Price & Sons Funeral Home in Tribune, Kansas. Memorials may be given to the United Methodist Church, or the Kuder Senior Center, in care of the funeral home.
