Vernon Bert Cessna, Age 83, died Sunday, November 27, 2005 @ St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City, Kansas. He was born May 9, 1922 at Ingalls, Kansas, the son of Bert D and Minnie Withers Cessna. A lifetime resident of Ingalls, he was a retired farmer and had worked as a Bulk Fuel deliveryman for Ingalls Co-op.
He was a U.S. Army WW II Veteran, serving as a Technical Sergeant in the 76th Tank Battalion.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Cimarron, Kansas.
He married Wynema Schmidt @ Ingalls, Kansas. She survives.
Other survivors include: 5 Sons: Nate Cessna of Topeka, Kansas, C.B. Cessna of Redding, California, Ray Cessna of Kansas City, Kansas, Roy Cessna of Garden City, Kansas, Aric Cessna of Wichita, Kansas. 2 Daughters: Laverda Cessna Doe of Denver, Colorado, and Cris Cessna of Fernley, Nevada. 2 Sisters: Geneva Plaut of Clifton, Kansas and Waneta Pucket of Garden City, Kansas. 8 Grandchildren 5 Great-Grandchildren
He was preceded in death by 1 brother, Forrest Cessna & 1 sister, Dorothy Pfister.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00pm, Wednesday, November 30, 2005 at the Price & Sons Funeral Home in Garden City, Kansas with Pastor Lyle Steuhrenberg officiating.
Friends may call from 1-8pm Tuesday and 10:00am until Service Time on Wednesday @ Price & Sons Funeral Home in Garden City.
Interment will be in the Ingalls Cemetery â Ingalls, Kansas
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials may be given to the Vernon Cessna Memorial fund in care of the Price & Sons Funeral Home
