Verneta M. Jones

Verneta M. Jones, age 92, died at her home in Garden City, Kansas on Wednesday, April 8, 2020. She was born on May 12, 1927 in Garden City, Kansas, the daughter of John and Freida Schwisow Schweer. She was a lifetime member of Garden City, Kansas and worked for Garden City Community College for 25 years. Verneta was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Lutheran Women’s Missionary League and the Get Together Girls all of Garden City. On August 4, 1946 she married Thomas E. Jones in Garden City. He preceded her in death on January 6, 2007. Survivors include: Two Daughters Barbara Fief of Garden City, Kansas Debby Wright of Garden City, Kansas Six grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, and seven great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one daughter, Sherry Moore; one grandson, Justin Wright; two brothers and two sisters. There will be no calling times. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, private family graveside services will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Garden City, Kansas on Saturday, April 11, 2020 with the Rev. Michael Hageman presiding. Public celebration of life services will be held at a later date. Interment will be held at the Sunset Memorial Gardens in Garden City, Kansas.
