Vergil N. Wright, age 90, passed away on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at his home in Wichita, Kansas. He was born on October 27, 1934, in Scott City, Kansas, the son of William Alfred and Alda Florence Easley Wright. A resident of Scott City, Kansas until 2001 moving to Wichita, Kansas.
Vergil was a 1956 KSU graduate with a Bachelor's Degree in Communications and was a member of the Gamma Chi Fraternity. In 1957 he moved back to Scott City to work in the family car business taking over as the owner and operator of Wright’s Chevrolet GMC in Scott City, Kansas for 24 years before retiring in 1984. After leaving Scott City he worked for the Kansas Lottery for over 11 years and then as a driver for Davis Moore transporting cars.
He was a member of the Hillside Christian Church in Wichita, Kansas, Isis Shriners, and Masonic Lodge #284 in Scott City, Kansas.
On June 2, 1957, he married Sharlene L. Reed in Alliance, Nebraska. She survives.
Survivors include his Wife - Sharlene L. Wright of Wichita, Kansas, One Daughter - Amy & Jeff Arnhold of Andover, Kansas, One Brother - Alan & Donna Wright of Valencia, California, One Daughter In Law - Annette Wright of Garden City, Kansas, Five Grandchildren - Zachary W. Arnhold of Wichita, Kansas, Reagan Wright & Bruce Mininger of Garden City, Kansas, Blake & Kayla Thackery Garden City, Kansas, Brendon & Hillary Thackery of Wichita, Kansas, Brett & Brooke Thackery of New Braunfels, Texas, Twelve Great Grandchildren, and numerous Nieces & Nephews.
He was preceded in death by his Parents, One Son - Bill Wright, and Two Step Brothers.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at the Hillside Christian Church, 8330 E Douglas Ave, Wichita, KS, 67206, with Pastor Wade Miller presiding.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at the Scott County Cemetery, 1330 South Kansas Road, Scott City, Kansas.
In Lieu of Flowers, memorials can be made to the Hillside Christian Church in care of Price & Sons Funeral Home, PO Box 553, Scott City, Kansas, 67871.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at the Hillside Christian Church, 8330 E Douglas Ave, Wichita, KS, 67206.
