Tanner Born

Tanner Dean Born, age 18, passed away on Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at his home in Holcomb, Kansas. He was born on February 5, 1991 in Garden City, Kansas, the son of Todd F. Born and Janet L. Fenton Smaltz. A lifetime resident of Holcomb, Kansas he was a 2009 Graduate of Holcomb High School. Tanner was attending Garden City Community College and pursuing a lifetime career in golf. He was a member of the Community Congregational Church in Garden City, Kansas. Survivors Include his Mother - Janet & Andy Smaltz of Holcomb, Kansas, Father - Todd & Patti Born of Lakin, Kansas, Two Brothers - Max Dunlap of Lakin, Kansas, Clayton Smaltz of Holcomb, Kansas, Two Sisters - Lyndsey Born of Manhattan, Kansas, Brooke Dunlap of Lakin, Kansas, Special Friend - Samantha Larrick of Holcomb, Kansas, Grandparents - Sharon Fenton of Holcomb, Kansas, Don & Shirley Hutchinson of El Dorado, Kansas, Don & Addie Born of Bennet, Nebraska, R.E. & Donova Maxwell of Lakin, Kansas, Darwin & Sharon Helmer of Sears, Michigan, Bruce & Lena Smaltz of Lansing, Michigan, Great Grandparents - Agnes McVey of Lakin, Kansas and Lunetta Hutchinson of Lincoln, Nebraska. He was preceded in death by his Grandfather â Arnold Dean Fenton. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 19, 2009 at Holcomb High School in Holcomb, Kansas with Rev. Jon Becker presiding. Burial will take place in the Valley View Cemetery in Garden City, Kansas. Friends may call from 10:00am-8:00pm on Friday, December 18, 2009 at the Price & Sons Funeral Home in Garden City, Kansas. The family requests memorials in Lieu of Flowers be given to Tanner Dean Born Memorial Fund to benefit Holcomb High School in care of Price & Sons Funeral Home.
