Sharen Ann Altman, age 73, passed away on Sunday, August 21, 2011 at Harry Hynes Hospice/St. Francis Campus in Wichita, Kansas. Sharen was born June 8, 1938 at Garden City, Kansas the daughter of Charles E. & Audrey Easter Supernaw Collins. A resident of Leoti, Kansas since 1971 moving from Garden City, Kansas, she was elected and had served as Wichita County Treasurer since October of 1981. Sharen was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and The Elks Lodge #1404 in Garden City, Kansas as well as the Wichita County Health Center Volunteers serving as Treasurer, The Kansas Association of County Treasurers, and The International Essential Tremors Association. On June 16, 1957 she married Merle Eugene Altman at Garden City, Kansas. He passed away on July 30, 1979. Sharen's surviving family includes- Six Children- Ryan Altman- Leoti, Kansas Cookie Altman- Leoti, Kansas Randy Altman- Liberal, Kansas Darla Altman- Lawrence, Kansas Rachelle Altman- Topeka, Kansas Sara Love- Topeka, Kansas One brother- Robert Collins- Garden City, Kansas Eight grandchildren Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 26, 2011 at the First Presbyterian Church in Leoti, Kansas with Terry Laws presiding. Graveside services will follow at 4:00 p.m. at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City, Kansas. Friends may call from noon to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday and from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Price & Sons Funeral Home in Leoti, Kansas. Memorial may be given to the Wichita County Health Center Volunteers, Leoti, E.M.T.'s or the Wichita County Amusement Association in care of the funeral home.
