Selma Loewen, age 98, passed away at her home in Garden City, Kansas on Friday, September 21, 2018. She was born on December 19, 1919 in Corn, Oklahoma, the daughter of John and Katherine Thiessen. She grew up on a family farm near Corn, Oklahoma and moved to Garden City, Kansas in 1979 from Rural Ingalls, Kansas.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Garden City, Kansas, Bible Builders Sunday School Class and Ioleta Elhaney Circle. She was a homemaker and loved gardening and baking.
On April 19, 1942 she married George Loewen in Corn, Oklahoma. He passed away on January 22, 1999 in Garden City, Kansas.
Survivors include her One Sister Lydia & John Oringderff of Dodge City, Kansas Many Nieces & Nephews.
She is preceded in death by Five Brothers - John, Alvin, Herb, Peter, Edward and Two Sisters - Bert Flaming and Katie Franz.
Funeral Service will be held at the First Baptist Church in Garden City, Kansas at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 25, 2016 with Pastor Don Patrick presiding. Interment will be in the Valley View Cemetery.
Memorials can be made to Camp Christy or St. Catherine Hospice in care of Price & Sons Funeral Home in Garden City, Kansas. Visitation will be from 1:00 pm until 8:00 p.m. Monday at Price & Sons Funeral Home in Garden City, Kansas.
