Scott D. McKinney, age 54, passed away on Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kansas. Scott was born December 8, 1956 in Scott City, Kansas the son of Kent D. & Donna J. Watson McKinney. A lifetime resident of Leoti, Scott was a farmer and rancher. Scott was a member of the United Methodist Church in Leoti, Kansas and was currently serving on the Wichita County School Board. He was also a avid supporter of the Wichita County High School Booster Club, had served on the Wichita County Health Center Board of Directors and was a former Little League baseball coach. On January 7, 1976 he married Lorraine Simpson at Plainville, Kansas. They later divorced. On January 26, 1991 he married Dedra Miller in Las Vegas, Nevada. Scott's surviving family includes- His wife- Dedra McKinney- Leoti, Kansas Two sons- Chance & Amy McKinney- Almena, Kansas Watson McKinney- Leoti, Kansas Parents- Kent & Donna McKinney- Leoti, Kansas A brother- Doug & Dawn McKinney- Leoti, Kansas A sister- Debbie & Steve Berning- Lakin, Kansas Two grandchildren- Griffen & Annika McKinney- Almena, Kansas Six nieces & nephews- Logan McKinney- Portland, Oregon Holden McKinney- Long Beach, California Devon McKinney- Leoti, Kansas Kyle Berning- Lakin, Kansas Jessica Lohman/Fuller- Lakin, Kansas Tanner Berning- Lakin, Kansas Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 29, 2011 at the United Methodist Church in Leoti, Kansas with the Reverend Mike Howard officiating. Burial will be in Leoti Cemetery in Leoti, Kansas. Friends may call from 10:00 am until 8:00 pm Friday at Price and Sons Funeral Home in Leoti, Kansas. Memorials may be given to the Wichita County Health Center or Leoti E.M.T.'s in care of the funeral home.
