Samuel P. Woodward, age 89, passed away on Monday, October 29, 2012 at the Scott County Hospital in Scott City, Kansas. He was born on November 5, 1922 in Knox County, Texas, the son of Park and Effie Valnoy Woodward. A resident of Scott City, Kansas since 1940 moving from Knox City, Texas, he was a farmer, painter and managed a gas station.
He was a member of the Community Christian Church of Scott City, Kansas and was also a United States Army Veteran of World War II.
On April 10, 1944 he married Betty Jean Kitterman in Scott City, Kansas. She passed away on June 6, 2009 in Scott City, Kansas.
Survivors include his Three Nephews - Larry & Brenda Turpin of Scott City, Kansas, Gary & Bev Turpin of Lawrence, Kansas, Richard V. & Betty Matthies of Knox City, Texas, Niece - Jo Carol Matthies of Knox City, Texas, Brother In Law - Richard E. Matthies of Knox City, Texas, Cousin - Dale & Mona Stephenson of Dodge City, Kansas, One Step Sister In Law - Connie Kessler of Scott City, Kansas and Numerous Great Nieces & Nephews.
He was preceded in death by his Parents, Wife, and Two Sisters.
Memorial Services will be held at Price & Sons Funeral Home in Scott City, Kansas at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 3, 2012 with Rev. Don Williams presiding.
Memorials may be given to the Scott County VIP Center % Price & Sons Funeral Home.
Inurnment will be in the Scott County Cemetery in Scott City, Kansas.
