Ruth Asmussen

Ruth O. Asmussen, age 86, passed away on Thursday, September 3, 2009 at the Kansas Masonic Home in Wichita, Kansas. Ruth was born March 5, 1923 in Leoti, Kansas the daughter of George Jeff & Minnie Robison Gilmore. She was a homemaker and had been a lifetime Wichita County resident. Ruth was a member of the Leoti United Methodist Church, Order of the Eastern Star, Rebecca Lodge and the Wichita County Democratic Party all of Leoti, Kansas. She was always very involved with the family and her church. On October 4, 1942 she married Harold H. Asmussen at Scott City, Kansas. He passed away on October 11, 1996 at Garden City, Kansas. Ruth's surviving family includes- Two sons and their wives- Ron & Linda Asmussen- Peyton, Colorado Terry & Jacque Asmussen- Argonia, Kansas Four grandchildren- Nicki Edmiston- Colorado Springs, Colorado Hans Asmussen- Wichita, Kansas Christopher Asmussen- Valley Center, Kansas Natalie Kollmeyer- Argonia, Kansas Nine great grandchildren- Heidi Asmussen, Amelia Kollmeyer, Alexander Asmussen, Madison Edmiston, Holli Asmussen, Aidan Kollmeyer, Benjamin Asmussen, Kolbe Asmussen and Jackson Kollmeyer. One sister- Margaret Bauck- Leoti, Kansas She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Harold, and four brothers, Carl Gilmore, Melvin Gilmore, Lloyd Gilmore and Junior Gilmore. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, September 7, 2009 at the United Methodist Church in Leoti, Kansas with the Reverend Mike Howard officiating. Burial will be in Leoti Cemetery in Leoti, Kansas. Friends may call from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Saturday and from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday at Price & Sons Funeral Home in Leoti, Kansas. Memorials may be given to the United Methodist Church or Leoti E.M.T.'s in care of the funeral home.
