Ruby M. Eikenberry, age 89, passed away on Friday, February 11, 2011 at the Wichita County Health Center in Leoti, Kansas. Ruby was born July 29, 1921 in Liberty, Kansas, the daughter of Rice T. & Olive Mae Baker Johnston. She and her husband, Kenneth, moved from Liberty, Kansas to Leoti, Kansas in 1958 and together ran Wichita County Grain in Leoti, Kansas until their retirement in May of 1983.
Ruby was a devoted member of the United Methodist Church in Leoti, Kansas, was a seamstress for many years and an avid quilter.
On May 24, 1941, Ruby & Kenneth were married in Independence, Kansas.
Ruby's surviving family includes- Her Husband- Kenneth Eikenberry- Leoti, Kansas Two sons and their wives- Kenneth G. (Jerry) and Patsy Eikenberry- Leoti, Kansas Donald & Trudy Eikenberry- Scott City, Kansas One sister-in- law- Louise Brothers- Cherryvale, Kansas One brother-in-law- Reed Eikenberry- Cherryvale, Kansas Five Grandchildren and Fourteen Great Grandchildren Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Alva Johnston & Everett Johnston, two sisters, Leah King and Mayme Bever and one grandson Kip Eikenberry.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at the United Methodist Church in Leoti, Kansas with the Reverend Mike Howard officiating. Burial will be in Leoti Cemetery in Leoti, Kansas.
Friends may call from 10:00 am to 8:00 p.m. Monday at Price & Sons Funeral Home in Leoti, Kansas.
Memorials may be given to the Leoti E.M.T.'s, United Methodist Church or Wichita County Amusement Assn. in care of the funeral home.
