Robert Owen Sleigh, age, 85, died Tuesday, November 20, 2007 at the Greeley County Hospital in Tribune, Kansas. He was born on August 6, 1922 in Tribune, Kansas the son of Robert and Faith Owen Sleigh. He graduated from Tribune High School in 1940 and later received his Bachelors Degree in Geology from the University of Kansas. A lifetime resident of Tribune, he had been the owner and operator of Sleigh Abstract Company since 1948 where he sold insurance, real estate, abstracting and income tax preparation going into farming later in life.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Tribune, Kansas. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and the KU Alumni Association. A WWII US Army Veteran, he was the recipient of the Bronze Star and was a faithful attendee of the 100th Infantry Division Annual Reunion.
On December 25, 1963 he married Virginia Kinlund Rohrer in Las Vegas, Nevada. She died April 19, 2004 in Tribune, Kansas.
Survivors Include: Four Sisters-In-Law, Maxine Higbee of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Rosamond Sleigh of San Diego, California, Patricia Baker of Tribune, Kansas and Priscilla Kleymann of Tribune, Kansas; Numerous Nieces and Nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and One Brother, Kenneth Sleigh.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30am(MT), Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2007 at the United Methodist Church in Tribune, Kansas with Rev. Les Ellis presiding.
Interment will be held at 3:00pm(CT) in the Beulah Cemetery in Wichita County, KS.
Friends may call from 10:00am until 8:00pm on Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2007 at the Price & Sons Funeral Home in Tribune, Kansas.
Memorials may be given to the Robert Sleigh Memorial Fund in care of Price & Sons Funeral Home.
