Rev. Harry Cletus Walz, age 91, died Thursday, March 31, 2011 at the Lenoir Woods Nursing Home in Columbia, Missouri. He was born September 16, 1919 on the family farm in Ellis County, Kansas the son of Henry C. and Rose Ester Haneke Walz. In 1948, he received his Masters in Divinity Degree from the Perkins School of Theology at SMU. A minister in Southwest Kansas for several years, Rev. Walz and his wife had moved to Columbia, Missouri in October 2009.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Garden, Kansas. He also belonged to the Masonic Lodge as well as several civic organizations.
On June 3, 1945 he married Helen Byrl Jacobs in Herrin, Illinois. She survives.
Other Survivors Include: Two Sons, Lynn (& Marie) Walz of Durango, Colorado and Lee (& Diana) Walz of Columbia, Missouri: One Brother, Henry (& Ruth) Walz of Ellis, Kansas; Five Grandchildren and One Great-Grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Two Brothers, Albert & Billy Walz and Five Sisters, Virginia Elting, Dorothy Shubert, Gladys Fowler, Margaret Emmerton and Marjorie Wiesner.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30am on Monday, April 4, 2011 at the First United Methodist Church in Garden City, Kansas with the Reverend David Bell presiding.
Friends may call from Noon-8:00pm on Sunday at the Price & Sons Funeral Home in Garden City.
Interment will be in the Valley View Cemetery in Garden City, Kansas.
Memorials may be given to the Church or to Camp Lakeside both in care of Price & Sons Funeral Home of Garden City, Kansas.
