Polly Anderson, age 88, died Sunday, October , 2008 at the Homestead Home Health & Rehabilitation Center in Garden City, Kansas.. She was born December 11, 1919 in Rosalia, Kansas the daughter of Gilbert and Belva Brown Evenson. Polly was a very spirited, independent lady that cherished her friendships immensely and deeply loved her extended family. A resident of Garden City since the 1960's, she owned and operated Kerr Implement of Garden City. Later in life trips to Reno and Laughlin, Nevada with all her friends were eagerly anticipated.
She was a member of the Christian faith. She belonged to the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, was a lifetime member of the VFW ladies auxiliary and was a charter member of the Eagles Lodge all of Garden City, KS. She also was an officer for and participated in many local bowling leagues and she bowled in all 50 states and in several national tournaments. Polly was a volunteer at the Finney County Senior Center and a volunteer teacher for literacy. She looked forward to spending the holidays with family, going camping and fishing with Andy and her beloved dog, Sparky.
Polly's first marriage was to Claude Kerr. On January 15, 1973 she married Harry "Andy" Anderson in Las Vegas, Nevada. He died December 29, 1993 in Garden City, Kansas.
Survivors Include: Four Step-Sons, Mark Anderson of Durango, Colorado, Steve (& B.J.) Anderson of Columbus, Nebraska, Greg (& Jane) Anderson of Fort Collins, Colorado and Bruce (& Deb) Anderson of Joplin, Missouri; Ten Grandchildren and Three Great-Grandchildren with the fourth due in February, 2009.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Edwin H. Evenson.
Memorial Services will be held at 11:00am, Saturday, November 1, 2008 at the Price & Sons Funeral Home in Garden City, Kansas with Chaplain Billy Kryger presiding.
There will be no public visitation.
The family requests memorials be given to the American Cancer Society or to the donors choice both in care of Price & Sons Funeral Home of Garden City, Kansas.
