Garden City
Pauline Patterson, age 94, died Tuesday, July 11, 2006 @ her home in Garden City, Kansas. She was born on March 13, 1912 in Grand Valley, Oklahoma, the daughter of Finner and Minnie Murphy Chuesberg. She graduated from Liberal High School in 1930 and from Panhandle A&M with her Bachelor of Arts degree in education art and design. While at Panhandle, she was active in the Blue Curtain Drama Club, Zeta Gamma Sorority and the Aggies Pep Club. She was honored as the Hesper Princess in the spring of 1931. After graduation she taught rural grades 1-7 at the Glen Rose Country School in Guymon, Oklahoma. A resident of Garden City since 1935 moving from Liberal, she and her husband had been co-owners and operators of Patterson Jewelers in Garden City for over 70 years handing the business down to their son, C. Richard Patterson. She was a member and former elder of the Presbyterian Church and belonged to Circle II. She was a Gray Lady volunteer and a member of the Belles of St. Catherine. She is past president and held several offices in the Sorosis Mother's Club and Chapter X P.E.O. Her passions were her family, friendships and the family business.
On June 16, 1935 she married O.M. Patterson @ Beaver, Oklahoma. He died in 1993.
Survivors include: One Daughter, Paulasue Patterson Sawyers of Garden City, Kansas: One Son, Robert O. Patterson of Kennesaw, Georgia: Two Granddaughters, Somer Lee Patterson of Kansas City, Missouri and Traci M. Sawyers Webster of Richmond, Vermont: One Great-Granddaughter, Haddie Grace Webster of Richmond, Vermont and One Great-Grandson, Ely Starling Webster of Richmond, Vermont.
She was preceded in death by One Son â C. Richard Patterson and a Brother â Ivan Guy Chuesberg.
A Memorial Service will be held at 7:00pm on Thursday evening, July 20, 2006 @ the Presbyterian Church in Garden City with the Rev. Dave Sweley presiding.
Inurnment will take place in the Valley View Cemetery in Garden City.
There will be no calling times.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be given to the Presbyterian Church in care of Price & Sons Funeral Home of Garden City.
