Pauline G. Joyce, age 86, died Sunday, May 18, 2008 at the Garden Valley Retirement Village in Garden City, Kansas. She was born December 24, 1921 in Finney County, Kansas the daughter Ralph G. & Viola Fern Collins Greathouse. She graduated from Garden City High School and attended Garden City Community College, Fort Hays State University and the University of Missouri. A lifetime resident of Garden City and Finney County, she was a homemaker and farmed with her husband.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Seibert-Christensen Circle, the Sorosis Club and the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority all of Garden City. She was a Charter Member of the Garden City Community College Board of Directors and she was an executive board member of the Kansas Association of Community Colleges.
On October 19, 1947 she married Lloyd Everette Joyce in Garden City, Kansas. He survives.
Other Survivors Include: Three Sons & Daughters-in-Law, Victor & Jimmie Lou Joyce of Katy, Texas, Patric & Vicki Joyce of Edmond, Oklahoma and Rex & Kathy Joyce of Leawood, Kansas: One Daughter & Son-in-Law, Melodie & Steven Sterling of Garden City, Kansas: One Brother, Ron Greathouse of Lee's Summit, Missouri; Three Sisters , Fern Greathouse of Garden City, Kansas, Evelyn Phillips of Prairie Village, Kansas and Beth Tedrow of Garden City, Kansas; Two Grandsons, Scott & his wife, Leslie Joyce and Wes Sterling; Seven Granddaughters, Jennifer & her husband Ryan Sitton, Jacqueline, Jillian, Lora & Mary Joyce, Jessica & Kelsey Sterling; Five Great-Grandchildren, Jackson, Drew & Reagan Joyce and Sarah & Luke Sitton. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Ralph Greathouse.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00pm on Wednesday, May 21, 2008 at the First United Methodist Church in Garden City, Kansas with the Rev. David Bell presiding.
Friends may call from 10am-8pm on Tuesday with the family receiving friends from 6-8pm at the funeral home. Additional calling times will be from 10am-Noon Wednesday all at the Price & Sons Funeral Home in Garden City.
Interment will be in the Valley View Cemetery in Garden City, Kansas. Memorials may be given to the Church or to the Lloyd & Pauline Joyce Scholarship Fund at GCCC both in care of Price & Sons Funeral Home of Garden City, Kansas.
