Patrick B. O'Dea, age 71, died Friday, July 9, 2010 at the Garden Valley Retirement Village in Garden City, Kansas. He was born January 27, 1939 at Indianola, Nebraska the son of Harold F. and Elizabeth Hanthorne O'Dea. A resident of Scott City since August of 2009 moving from North Platte, Nebraska, he had been an office clerk for the Union Pacific Railroad.
He was a member of St. Pats Catholic Church of North Platte, Nebraska, was a US Air Force veteran and he belonged to the VFW.
On September 7, 1957, he married Alice J. Gerver in Oberlin, Kansas. She survives.
Other Survivors include: Three Sons, Bob O'Dea of Scott City, Kansas, Mike O'Dea of North Platte, Nebraska and Scott O'Dea of Kimble, Nebraska; Two Daughters, Val Karel of Redding, California and Betty Cummins of Olathe, Kansas; Eighteen Grandchildren and Twelve Great-Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Santos Lopez.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30am on Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at the Community Christian Church in Scott City with the Rev. Troy Schroeder presiding.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00pm on Wednesday, July 14, 2010 in the Fort McPherson National Cemetery in Maxwell, Nebraska.
There will be no calling times at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorials be given to the Patrick O'Dea Memorial Fund in care of Price & Sons Funeral Home.
