OMER CONRAD LEWIS, AGE 85, PASSED AWAY ON SUNDAY, MARCH 25, 2007 AT GREELEY COUNTY HOSPITAL IN TRIBUNE, KANSAS. OMER WAS BORN SEPTEMBER 30, 1921 AT HEALY, KANSAS, THE SON OF ROY ALLEN & MAUD MYRA KYLE LEWIS. IN 1924, HIS FAMILY MOVED TO EASTERN KANSAS AND IN 1932 THEY MOVED TO EADS, COLORADO WHERE HE GRADUATED FROM HIGH SCHOOL IN THE KIOWA COUNTY SCHOOL SYSTEM. IN 1942, OMER WAS CALLED TO THE UNITED STATES ARMY, TAKING BASIC TRAINING AT LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS. HE WAS LATER ASSIGNED TO BATTERY C, 123RD FIELD ARTILLERY BATTALION, 36TH DIVISION FROM TEXAS. OMER SERVED FOR TWO AND A HALF YEARS IN AFRICA, ITALY, FRANCE, GERMANY, AUSTRIA AND WAS INVOLVED IN TWO AMPHIBIOUS LANDINGS. HE WAS DISCHARGED IN 1945. IN 1948 HE BEGAN HIS CAREER IN THE SIGNAL DEPARTMENT OF THE MISSOURI PACIFIC RAILROAD. RETIRING IN 1978 AFTER 30 YEARS OF SERVICE. OMER WAS A MEMBER OF The FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH AND V.F.W. POST # 7521 IN TRIBUNE, KANSAS. ON DECEMBER 11, 1955 HE MARRIED LENA MAE LINDER AT KANSAS CITY, KANSAS. SHE PASSED AWAY ON JANUARY 13, 2004 AT TRIBUNE, KANSAS. OMER'S SURVIVORS INCLUDE- THREE SONS- ROBERT FAHRNER- AUGUSTA, GEORGIA RICHARD MARTIN- TRIBUNE, KANSAS ROY LEWIS- NICKERSON, KANSAS ONE DAUGHTER- MYRA BETHEL- ATKINS. ARKANSAS TWO BROTHERS- REX LEWIS- LOS ANIMAS, COLORADO HAL LEWIS- DAYTON, NEVADA THREE SISTERS- AVIS THOMAS MILSAP, TEXASP BONNIE SCHAREN- KALISPELL, MONTANA VERA AGEE- SALINAS, CALIFORNIA A SISTER-IN-LAW- BETTY LEWIS- McDONALD, KANSAS THIRTEEN GRANDCHILDREN, NUMEROUS GREAT AND GREAT GREAT GRANDCHILDREN. HE WAS PRECEEDED IN DEATH BY A BROTHER, VANCE LEWIS. MEMORIAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT 2:00 P.M. ( M.D.T.) FRIDAY, MARCH 30, 2007 AT THE FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH IN TRIBUNE, KANSAS WITH THE REVEREND MARK RANDOLPH OFFICIATING. INURNMENT WILL BE IN GREELEY COUNTY CEMETERY WITH FULL MILITARY HONORS PROVIDED BY V.F.W. POST # 7521, TRIBUNE, KANSAS. THERE WILL BE NO CALLING TIMES.
