SCOTT CITY, KANSAS OLIVE F. "OLLIE" NEWCOMER, AGE 92, PASSED AWAY ON FRIDAY, JULY 6, 2007 AT SCOTT COUNTY HOSPITAL IN SCOTT CITY, KANSAS. OLLIE WAS BORN OCTOBER 21, 1914 AT MANNING, KANSAS, THE DAUGHTER OF EDWIN D. AND GARNET VERNON GRIFFITH FRENCH. HER MOTHER DIED WHEN OLLIE WAS SIX YEARS OF AGE. HER FATHER LATER MARRIED GERTRUDE G. HOOVER, WHO THEN BECAME HER MOTHER. OLLIE WAS A LIFETIME RESIDENT OF SCOTT COUNTY. SHE WAS CO-OWNER/OPERATOR OF THE BEAVER INN IN SCOTT CITY AND SERVED AS HOUSE MOTHER FOR THE DELTA ZETA SORORITY AT FORT HAYS STATE UNIVERSITY IN THE 60'S AND AT THE ATO FRATERNITY AT KANSAS STATE UNIVERSITY IN THE 70'S OLLIE WAS A MEMBER OF THE FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH IN SCOTT CITY, KANSAS AND WAS AN AVID MEMBER OF SEVERAL BRIDGE CLUBS IN SCOTT CITY. ON MAY 23, 1937 SHE MARRIED ROBERT LEROY NEWCOMER AT SCOTT CITY, KANSAS. HE DIED NOVEMBER 5, 1946. OLLIE'S SURVIVORS INCLUDE TWO DAUGHTERS AND THIR HUSBANDS- SANDRA & JOE WHITLEY- MORTROSE, COLORADO SONJA & BILL CONNOR- PORTLAND, OREGON THREE GRANDSONS AND THEIR WIVES- MIKE & TRISHA WHITLEY- BERKLEY LAKES, GEORGIA CHRIS & REGINA CONNOR- HILLSBORO, OREGON PETER & PEILING CONNOR- BLOOMINGTON, INDIANA A GRANDDAUGHTER AND HER HUSBAND- ERIN & JERRY SKEES- MONTROSE, COLORADO EIGHT GREAT GRANDCHILDREN MADISON WHITLEY, McKENNA WHITLEY, ZACHARIAH CONNOR, P.J. CONNOR, GABRIEL CONNOR, JESSICCA CONNOR, KATELYN SKEES & JAYDEE SKEES. A NEICE- ELSIE BROWER- YEARINGTON, NEVADA TWO COUSINS- LaVERNE McCLELLAN- SCOTT CITY, KANSAS AILEEN KEYSE- DENVER, COLORADO SHE WAS PRECEED IN DEATH BY TWO SISTERS, BLANCHE BROWER AND WANETA FRENCH. FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT 10:30 A.M. TUESDAY, JULY 10, 2007 AT THE FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH IN SCOTT CITY, KANSAS WITH THE REVEREND RANDY ROBINSON OFFICIATING. BURIAL WILL BE IN SCOTT COUNTY CEMETERY. FRIENDS MAY CALL FROM 1:00 P.M. TO 8:00 P.M. SATURDAY AND SUNDAY AND 10:00 A.M. TO 8:00 P.M.
