Norman A. Elliott, age 84, died Sunday, August 22, 2010 at his home in Garden City, Kansas. He was born on October 9, 1925 in Topeka, Kansas the son of Leonard C. and Doris E. Burdette Elliott. He graduated from Las Vegas Robertson High School in Las Vegas, New Mexico in 1943. Norman served in the US Army during WWII as a radio operator with the 742nd Field Artillery and was assigned to General Patton's 3rd Army. His unit earned 2 battle stars to their "ETO" ribbon for major battles, "Rhineland and the "Ruhr Pocket." After the service he worked as a railroad clerk for the Santa Fe Railroad and in 1970 he moved to Garden City from Raton, New Mexico.
Norman was an avid golfer, tennis player and bowler.
March 5, 1948 he married Clara J. Reichenborn in Las Vegas, New Mexico. She died July 5, 2007 in Garden City, Kansas.
Survivors Include: Two Sons, Grant A. (& Deb) Elliott of La Junta, Colorado and Gary A. (& Gayla) Elliott of Garden City, Kansas; One Daughter, Norma (& Kevin) Bascue of Garden City, Kansas; Nine Grandchildren and Seven Great-Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a Brother, Vernon and a Great-Grandson, Jeron McGrew
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30am on Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at the Price & Sons Funeral Home in Garden City, Kansas.
Friends may call from 10:00am-8:00pm Tuesday at the Price & Sons Funeral Home in Garden City.
Interment will be held at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City, Kansas.
The family requests memorials be given to the St. Catherine Hospice in care of Price & Sons Funeral Home of Garden City, Kansas.
