Nancy Jo Sheley, age 71, passed away on Thursday, December 25, 2008 at the Scott County Hospital in Scott City, Kansas. She was born on February 25, 1937 in Dighton, Kansas, the daughter of Joe and Nellie Proudfoot Edmundson. A lifetime resident of Scott City, she was employed at the Dairy Queen in Scott City for over 40 years before retiring earlier this year.
She was an avid gardner, accomplished artist with paintings and saw blades. Her artwork has been sent around the world.
Memberships include the Immanuel Southern Baptist Church of Scott City, Eastern Star of Scott City- having served as Worthy Matron in 1973, and she was a Girl Scout Leader.
On August 7, 1960 she married Blaine L. Sheley in Scott City, Kansas. He passed away on June 10, 1996 in Wichita, Kansas.
Survivors include Three Sons - Howard Sheley of Hastings, Nebraska, Daniel Sheley of Severance, New York, David Sheley of Scott City, Kansas, Two Daughters - Debby Flory of Russellville, Arkansas, Delaine Barnett of Alamogordo, New Mexico, One Brother - Bill Edmundson of Olympia, Washington, One Sister - Patsy Lisenby of Burrton, Kansas, Nine Grandchildren and Twelve Great Grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her Parents, Husband, One Brother and One Sister.
Funeral Services will be at The Immanuel Southern Baptist in Scott City, Kansas at 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 29, 2008 with the Rev. Robert Nuckolls presiding. Interment will be in the Scott County Cemetery in Scott City, Kansas.
Memorials maybe given to the Immanuel Southern Baptist % Price & Sons Funeral Home.
Visitation will be at Price & Sons Funeral Home in Scott City from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Sunday, and 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Monday.
