Nadine "Deenie" Gies, age 85, passed away at her home in Iola, Kansas on Friday, September 13, 2013. She was born on September 9, 1928 in San Bernardino, California, the daughter of Joseph F. and Mabel McGuire Perry Copp. A longtime resident of Scott City, Kansas before moving to Iola, Kansas, she was a homemaker.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Scott City, Kansas. Nadine was also a music director of church choirs, Past Worthy Matron, Eastern Star, Girl & Boy Scout Leader, EMT participant, was involved in community theatre. She was also a member of the Kansas Art Association, Federated Music Club, Scott County Golf Course and was in the VIP Chorus and a Women's Quartet.
On May 29, 1947 she married William E. Gies in Topeka, Kansas. He passed away on October 29, 1991 in Scott City, Kansas.
Survivors Include her One Son - Bill & Mari Ann Gies of Assaria, Kansas, Five Daughters - Mary & David Balmer of Inverness, Florida, Susie & Gary Greve of Iola, Kansas, Kathy & Larry Hoeme of Scott City, Kansas, Beth & Ron Hess of Scott City, Kansas, Chris & Jay Wagner of Yukon, Oklahoma, Eleven Grandchildren and Ten Great Grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her Parents, Husband, One Infant Son and One Infant Great Grandson.
Funeral Services will be held at the United Methodist Church in Scott City, Kansas at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 19, 2013 with the Rev. Dennis Carter presiding.
Memorials may be given to the Scott County EMT's % Price & Sons Funeral Home.
Interment will be in the Scott County Cemetery in Scott City, Kansas.
Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday and 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday @ Price & Sons Funeral Home in Scott City, Kansas.
