She was born on October 27, 1917 in Wright, Kansas, the daughter of Roger and Minnie Wortman Norris. A resident of Scott City, Kansas since 1942 moving from Council Grove, Kansas, she was the owner and operator of Muench's Drapery and she was a homemaker.
