Mildred M. Hicks, age 85, died Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at the St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City, Kansas. She was born on April 1, 1924 in Macon, Georgia the daughter of Andrew Jackson and Mary Dallas Fogg McPherson. She had been a resident of Garden City since 2005 moving from Liberal where she had lived since 1960. She was the secretary and bookkeeper for Tom Hicks Appliance Store in Liberal and Garden City, KS.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Friends of the Baker Art Center both of Liberal, Kansas. She was a former member of the Book Club, the Garden Club, the Investment Club and the China Painters Club.
On February 6, 1943 she married Thomas E. Hicks in Macon, Georgia. He died December 22, 2000 in Liberal, Kansas..
Survivors Include: One Son, Dr. Thomas E. Hicks Jr. of Emporia, Kansas; One Daughter, Pamela J. Hicks of Garden City, Kansas; Two Granddaughters, Lindsay Hicks of Winston Salem, North Carolina and Caitlin Hicks of Emporia, Kansas and One Grandson, Jeffrey Hicks of Manhattan, Kansas. She was preceded in death by an infant son, Two Brothers, James & Arthur McPherson and Two Sisters, Lucile Garner & Martha Rich.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, March 27, 2010 at the Price & Sons Funeral Home in Garden City, Kansas with Rev. Brenda Fluellen presiding.
Friends may call from 10:00am until 8:00pm Friday at the Price & Sons Funeral Home in Garden City. The family will be in attendance and receive friends from 5:00-8:00pm.
Interment will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday at the Restlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Liberal, Kansas.
The family requests memorials be given to the First United Methodist Church of Garden City or Liberal and to the Baker Arts Center of Liberal, Kansas in care of Price & Sons Funeral Home of Garden City, Kansas.
