Mildred R. Brittan, age 88, passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2007 at the Park Lane Nursing Home in Scott City, Kansas. She was born on January 6, 1919 in Koshapah, Nebraska, the daughter of LeGrande and Rosa May Daily Athey, she was the 7th of 11 children. She was raised in a sod house in the Sand Hills and ranch country. She was teaching in a country school in the Sand Hills at the time she met Robert Brittan and they were married on April 5, 1941 in Maxwell, Nebraska. They moved to Scott County in 1947 where they raised five children. Mildred was a resident of the community for 55 years. She sold Avon for 15 years. She was elected and served as Sheriff of Scott County for 2 years being recognized by the Governor for her service. She owned a drapery business and new and used furniture store operating as Brittan Auction. She co-founded Brittan Auction and clerked the sales for many years. She was a member of St. Lukes Episcopal Church in Scott City. Mildred was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and an avid card, cribbage and domino player. She also loved a good garage sale. .

She was preceded in death by her Parents, Husband, Four Brothers, and Five Sisters.
