Melba Lucille Monroe, age 95, passed away on Sunday, June 20, 2010, at the Greeley County Health Center in Tribune, Kansas. Melba was born July 17, 1914, at Hamilton, Kansas, the daughter of Charles L & Ora Jennings Beuchat. Melba graduated from Emporia State Teachers College with a degree in Business Administration in 1936.
She was a teacher and homemaker and had been a Greeley County resident since 1950, moving from, Lyons, Kansas.
Melba was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Joseph Alter Society, was a former 4-H leader, and an avid bridge player, all in Tribune, Kansas.
On August 22, 1938, she married Earl Crawford Monroe at Emporia, Kansas. He passed away on March 22, 2006, at Tribune, Kansas.
Melba's surviving family members include- One daughter- Carol E. Bloesser- Tribune, Kansas One son and his wife- William E. & Lee Monroe- Norris, Tennessee A daughter in law Billie Monroe- Wichita, Kansas Four Grandchildren Eight Great Grandchildren One son, Craig Monroe, a brother and a sister, preceded her in death.
Vigil Services will be held at 7:00 p.m. (M.D.T.) Thursday, June 24, 2010, at St Joseph Catholic Church in Tribune, Kansas.
The Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. (M.D.T.) Friday, June 25, 2010, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Tribune, Kansas, with Father Benjamin Martin officiating.
Burial will be in Greeley County Cemetery.
Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday and from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Thursday at Price & Sons Funeral Home in Tribune, Kansas.
Memorials may be given to St. Joseph Catholic Church in care of the funeral home.
