Maxine Jones

Maxine Clark Jones, age 96, died Sunday, June 23, 2013 at her home in Garden City, Kansas. She was born August 27, 1916 in Coldwater, Kansas the daughter of Marion and Estella Garten Bratcher. She had been a resident of Pierceville since 1943 where she was a dedicated helpmate on the farm, driving trucks and cooking for harvest crews all while caring for her children. In 1959, she and her husband moved to Garden City, Kansas while continuing to farm. She was a member of the Pierceville Federated Church and then the Garden City First United Methodist Church, the Order of the Eastern Star and the Finney County Senior Center. Maxine belonged to the UMW and the Godmothers and also volunteered at St. Catherine Hospital and for Meals on Wheels. On July 23, 1933 she married Lester Clark in Ashland, Kansas. He died Feb. 14, 1980 in Mesa, Arizona. Then on August 5, 1983 she married Arthur V. Jones in Crested Butte, Colorado. He died April 25, 2011 in Garden City, Kansas. Survivors Include: One Daughter, Marian Mason of Garden City, Kansas; One Step-Daughter, Karen (& John) Walker of Ingalls, Kansas; Two Grandsons, Cole Mason of Garden City, Kansas and Phil Mason of Lindsey, Oklahoma; Two Granddaughters, Leah Kathman of Garden City, Kansas and Traci Martinez of Wichita, Kansas; Two Step-Grandsons, Ty Walker of Garden City, Kansas and Travis Walker of Springfield, Missouri; Two Step-Granddaughters, Tamara Frescatore of Killeen, Texas and Terra Simon of Pierceville, Kansas; Nine Great Grandchildren and Four Great-Great-Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands, a Son, Terry Clark, Two Brothers, Laverne and Felton Bratcher and One Sister, Berniece White. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30am on Friday, June 28, 2013 at the First United Methodist Church in Garden City, Kansas. Interment will be held in the Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Garden City, Kansas. There will be no public calling times. Memorials may be given to the Finney County Senior Center in care of Price & Sons Funeral Home.
