MaryAnn Claire Winter, age 91, passed away on Friday, February 6, 2015 at Wichita County Health Center Long Term Care in Leoti, Kansas. MaryAnn was born August 13, 1923 on the Baker family homestead near Marienthal, Kansas, the daughter of Anton & Caecilia Baier Baker. A graduate of Wichita County High School in 1941, she began her working career at Scott County Hospital in Scott City, Kansas followed by the Air Base in Garden City, Kansas, Cooper Tire Company in Denver, Colorado and a Post Exchange in California before returning to western Kansas to become a farm wife.
MaryAnn was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and St. Mary Alter Society, both in Marienthal, Kansas.
On February 8, 1949 she married Joseph E. Winter at Marienthal. Joe passed away on August 16, 2010 at Leoti, Kansas.

Randy & Barbara Winter- Livingston, Montana
Jim & Carla Winter- Columbia, Missouri
Sydney & Julie Winter- Chandler, Arizona
One daughter-
Caecilia & Terry Gropp- Scott City, Kansas
Two brothers-
Joseph & Virginia Baker- Haddam, Kansas
Bernard & Theresa Baker- Colby, Kansas
Two sisters-
Imelda & Gerald Smith- Marienthal, Kansas
Inella & Clyde Scheffe- Marienthal, Kansas
Sixteen grandchildren including Richard Winter, Renee Hamilton, Aaron Winter, Amanda Mische, Becky Cagle, Clay Winter, Wes Winter, Matt DeChambeau, Jesse LaMoure, Jared Winter, Joe Winter, Emily Huckla, Staci Reinert, Adam Winter, Zachary Winter and Abby Winter and ten great grandchildren.
A granddaughter, Annie Winter and nine siblings including Louis Baker, Bernadine Pahls, Celine Wimmer, Marguerite Zellner, Florence Zellner, Elizabeth Geyer, Pauline Baker, Anthony Baker and Marie Baker precede her in death.
Vigil Services will be held at 7:00 pm Monday at St. Mary Catholic Church in Marienthal, Kansas.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at St. Mary Catholic Church with Father Bernard Felix officiating.
Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery in Marienthal, Kansas.
Friends may call from 10:00 am until 8:00 pm Monday at Price & Sons Funeral Home in Leoti, Kansas.
Memorials may be given to St. Mary Catholic Church or Wichita County Long Term Care in care of the funeral home.
