Mary Emily VanAntwerp, age 76, passed away on Friday, June 12, 2009 at the Baylor All Saints Medical Center, Fort Worth, Texas. She was born on September 18, 1932 in Wichita, Kansas, the daughter of John Gurley Missildine M.D. and Mary Elizabeth Cheney Missildine. She was a homemaker and a member of the Episcopalian faith.
Emily attended the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas and was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. In 1952 she married James Dillier VanAntwerp Jr. of Scott City, Kansas and was a medical student at the KU Medical Center in Kansas City. She was active in charity work with the Junior league in Kansas City, MO, and was Chairman of Crippled Children's Nursery at Children Mercy Hospital. The family moved to Tucson, Arizona in 1968 where she was active in Junior League, a Board Member of Tucson Child Guidance Clinic, and was a volunteer nursing assistant at St. Mary's Hospital. In 1999 she and her husband retired and moved to Fort Worth, Texas to be with their children and grandchildren.
Survivors include her Husband - James Dillier VanAntwerp Jr. M.D. of Fort Worth, Texas, Two Sons - Jeffery Allen VanAntwerp of Houston, Texas, James Dillier VanAntwerp III of Fort Worth, Texas, One Daughter - Mary Eugenia VanAntwerp-May of Fort Worth, Texas, One Sister - Katherine Raid of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Six Grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her Parents.
Funeral Services will be held at the United Methodist Church in Scott City, Kansas at 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 19, 2009 with the Rev. Dwight Neuenschwander Presiding.
Interment will be in the Scott County Cemetery in Scott City, Kansas.
Memorials may be given to the M.D. Anderson â Melanoma Department % of Price & Son Funeral Home in Scott City, Kansas.
Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday and 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Friday.
