Marion Hutchins

Marion Dorsey Hutchins , 93, died Oct. 15, 2006, at Park Lane Nursing Home in Scott City, Kansas. He was born January 17, 1913, at home 3 miles north and 1/2 mile east of Sterling, Kansas, in Rice County. Marion was the son of Dorsey J. and Bertha Newby Hutchins. He was a rancher and farmer in Lane and Scott Counties. Marion belonged to the First United Methodist Church of Scott City and was one of the original Board of Directors of the Security State Bank, Scott City. On March 30, 1932, Marion and Grace May Everett were married by the Methodist Pastor in Lyons, KS. After living in Lane County for nine years they moved into their new farm home 15 miles south of Scott City the day World War II was declared, Dec. 7, 1941. In March of 1960 they moved to 810 Court Street, Scott City. Grace died January 13, 1986. Survivors include: a son, Melvin Dan and wife, Barbara Hutchins; daughter-in-law Dorothy Hutchins; all of Scott City; four grandchildren, Devin and wife, Dawn Hutchins, Scott City; Debbie and husband, Matt Talbott, Lindsborg, KS; Andrea Hutchins, Colorado Springs, CO; Doug and wife, Kristen Hutchins of Castle Rock, CO; and nine great-grandchildren, Alex Swan, Marshal and Dylan Hutchins, Scott City; Danielle, Koltin, Paige and Jaide Talbott, Lindsborg, KS; Hayden and Brady Hutchins, Castle Rock, CO; a sister, Pauline Haney Rio Rancho, New Mexico; many nieces and nephews. Marion was preceded in death by wife, Grace and a son, Kent; three brothers Clarence, Donovan and Marvin; four sisters Nancy Ester, Virginia, Olive and Haley. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday, October 20 in the First United Methodist Church, Scott City, with Pastor Randy Robinson presiding. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday and 9:00 a.m until 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Price and Sons Funeral Home, Scott City. Burial will be at the Scott City Cemetery. After the burial, family and friends are welcome to stop at 810 Court Street, Scott City to visit with Marion's family.
