Marietta Weitzel

Marietta Weitzel, age 74, died Saturday, March 15, 2008 at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City, Kansas. She was born on February 7, 1934 in Ravana, Missouri the daughter of Ford & Etta Hunter Baxter. A Garden City resident since June of 2004, moving from Canon City, Colorado, she had been a meat cutter and cashier for the grocery store in Penrose, Colorado. She was a member of the Lifeway Baptist Church in Canon City, Colorado. On November 16, 1952 she married Bob Weitzel in Missouri. He died in 1998 in Florence, Colorado. Survivors Include: 2 Sons, Richard Weitzel of Kansas City, Missouri & Bill (& Annie) Weitzel of Dewey, Arizona; 1 Daughter, Debbie Frizzell of Garden City, Kansas; 1 Brother, Jim (& Sharon) Baxter of Hannibal, Missouri; and 14 Grandchildren & 8 Great-Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 1 grandson & an infant sister. Memorial Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at the First Assembly of God Church in Garden City, Kansas with Pastor Don Payne presiding. There will be no calling times. The family requests memorials be given to the American Diabetes Association in care of Price & Sons Funeral Home of Garden City.
