Maria Fernandez

Maria Carmen Fernandez, age 71, died Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at the Homestead Health & Rehabilitation Center in Garden City, Kansas. She was born April 1, 1940 in Mexico the daughter of Feliciano & Mario Diaz Ortiz. A resident of Garden City since 1990, she was a homemaker. She was a member of the Templo Emmanuel Asamblea De Dios of Garden City, Kansas. On June 3, 1962 she married Margarito Fernandez in Mexico. He survives. Other Survivors Include: Four Sons, Joe Fernandez of Dumas, Texas, Julio Fernandez of Dallas, Texas, Anastacio Fernandez of Garden City, Kansas and Margarito Fernandez Jr. of Garden City, Kansas; Three Daughters, Sandra Fernandez-Bergerson of Manhattan, Kansas, Maria Elliott of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and Emilia Sarinana of Belen, New Mexico; Two Sisters, Teresa Ortiz of Mexico and Margarita Ortiz of Mexico; Twenty Grandchildren and Three Great-Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Ramon, Feliziano & Ricardo Ortiz and two sisters, Francisca & Guadalupe Ortiz. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, December 17, 2011 at the Templo Emmanuel Asamblea De Dios in Garden City, Kansas. Interment will be held in the Valley View Cemetery in Garden City, Kansas. Friends may call from 9:00am-1:00pm Saturday at the church. The family requests memorials go to the Maria Fernandez Memorial Fund in care of Price & Sons Funeral Home.
