Marcia Lynn Mehl
November 12th, 1942 - January 10th, 2022
Marcia Mehl, longtime Leoti, Kansas resident, joined her husband Lanny in Heaven on Monday, January 10th, 2022. Marcia was born to Kenneth and Hazel Ford of Eureka, Kansas. Marcia and her sister Suzanne moved with their parents to Boulder, Colorado where she attended high school and met her future husband. They married on May 1st, 1959. Marcia and kids followed Lanny's career through the Navy and FBI. Marcia and Lanny moved to the farm with their three children, and Marcia's horses, in 1972. There they raised Steele, Sarah, Shad, and 50 years worth of man's best friend, amongst the picture worthy flowing wheat fields, cloud formations, and incredible sunscapes. As sure as her yard would yield spring tulips, you could look forward to a loaf of bread, or a bouquet of lilacs, if Marcia were to visit. If you were fortunate enough to be a biker traveling down highway 96, Marcia would find you setting up camp, offer you the alternative of a warm bed and meal out at the farm, and enjoy a late night of conversation with Lanny and her. Marcia's faith formed the words and actions of her life. Many unknowing people were the recipient of Marcia's random acts of kindness. The lives of her 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, relatives, and friends will be forever impacted by her influence. We will miss her, but will forever cherish our memories, and in her own words we hear her encouragement for our comfort, “But do you love Jesus?”
Inurnment services will be held at Kansas Veterans Cemetery at Fort Dodge on February 4th, 3:00 p.m. A celebration of life will be held in Leoti on February 5th, 2:00 p.m., at the United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers Marcia’s family would like to invite friends and family to make memorial gifts in her memory to World Bicycle Relief, an organization that provides bikes to students, healthcare workers and entrepreneurs in the rural developing regions for life-changing mobility. Contributions can be made at the Western State Bank in Leoti or directly through WBR’s website.(worldbicyclerelief.org)
