Luella Mae Betzold

Luella Mae Betzold, age 86, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 23, 2020, at Wesley Towers Thorn Care Center in Hutchinson, Kansas.  She was born on September 4, 1934, in Kansas City, Kansas, the daughter of Leonard and Leta Mae Eastham Brooks. Luella moved to Scott City, Kansas in 1944 from Kanas City until 1979 when she moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, and then in 1994 she moved to Hutchinson, Kansas.  Luella worked in Walmart as a clerk. Luella enjoyed crocheting, cooking and was very proud of her GED. On August 20, 1951, Luella married Leo Leroy Betzold in Raton, New Mexico. Together they raised five children. Leo passed away on July 20, 1984, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Survivors include her one son - Morris & Barbara Betzold of Hutchinson, Kansas; Two Daughters - Martha Gawdun of Denver, Colorado, and Monica Chapman of Wichita, Kansas, One brother; Lynn Brooks of Valley View, Texas, Three Sisters; Susie Jantz of Hoisingon, Kansas, Patti Brooks of Salina, Kansas and Lenora Haynes of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Thirteen grandchildren, Twenty One Great Grandchildren, Two Great Great Grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Luella was preceded in death by her Husband, Parents, Two Sons, Mark Betzold & Michael Betzold, and Three Brothers - Leland Brooks, Larry Brooks, and Leonard Brooks and One Great Granddaughter - Taylor Childs.  Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, October 8, 2020, at the Scott County Cemetery in Scott City, Kansas. Burial will be in the Scott County Cemetery in Scott City, Kansas. Memorial In Lieu of Flower may be written to the American Cancer Society. There will be no visitation time as cremation has taken place.
