Luella M. Auten, age 85, formerly of Garden City, died Wednesday, December 8, 2010, at her home in Casa Grande, Arizona. She was born July 4, 1925 in Greensburg, Kansas the daughter of Charley and Lena Unruh Base. A resident of Arizona since 1990 she was a homemaker and had worked as a bookkeeper for the Sunkist Corporation.
She was a former member of the Garden City Church of the Brethren and the San Pedro Evangelical Free Church of Sierra Vista, Arizona.
On September 29, 1944 she married Dewey Auten in Garden City, Kansas. He died January 10, 1996 in Sierra Vista, Arizona.
Survivors Include: One Son, Dewey Auten Jr. of Oracle, Arizona; Two Daughters, Barbara Southern of Decatur, Georgia and Jacqueline LaChance of Maricopa, Arizona; Two Brothers, Charlie Base of Kingman, Kansas and Clayton Base of Colcord, Oklahoma; Four Sisters, Velma Base of Garden City, Kansas, Neva Stauffer of Springfield, Missouri, Vivian Gaylord of Lees Summit, Missouri and Evelyn Renfro of Lees Summit, Missouri; Three Grandchildren and Three Great-Grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant sister.
Graveside Services will be held at 1:00pm on Thursday, December 16, 2010 at the Valley View Cemetery in Garden City, Kansas with Reverend Robert Nuckolls presiding.
Friends may call from 5:00pm-8:00pm on Wednesday at the Price & Sons Funeral Home in Garden City.
