Alice Lucille " Lucy " Templer, age 92, passed away on Saturday, April 24, 2010 at The Arbor of Brandon Woods in Lawrence, Kansas. Lucy was born October 28, 1917 at Greenfield, Illinois the daughter of William & Mabelle Cole Robbins. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Southwestern College in 1937. She began her career as an educator and in 1951 moved to Leoti, Kansas serving as an English and Speech teacher and Librarian for the Wichita County School District, retiring in 1982. She had been a resident of Lawrence, Kansas since 2007 moving from Leoti, Kansas. Lucy's memberships include the United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Omiyage and various bridge clubs, all in Leoti, Kansas. She was also very active in the school system as a Speech and Debate coach for many years. On June 8, 1941 she married Woodrow W. " Woody " Templer at Larned, Kansas. He survives. Lucy's other surviving family members include- One son Bill Templer- Siloam Springs, Arkansas One daughter- Patty Hart- Lawrence, Kansas Four grandchildren- Derek Hart- Lawrence, Kansas Heather Motzny- Cypress, Texas Geri Kay Hart- Hutchinson, Kansas Ryan Templer- Port St. Lucie, Florida Four great grandchildren Maddie Motzny- Cypress, Texas Kenzie Motzny- " Remy Kulick-Hart- Lawrence, Kansas Roman Kulick-Hart- " Her parents, one brother, Raymond Robbins and four sisters, Marian Robbins, Helen Baier, Ruth Duncan and Billie Beck, and one grandson, Nathan Templer, preceded her in death. Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, May 1, 2010 at the United Methodist Church in Leoti, Kansas with the Reverend Mike Howard officiating. Inurnment will be in Leoti Cemetery in Leoti, Kansas. There will be no calling times. Memorials may be given to the Lucy Templer Education Fund in care of Price and Sons funeral Home in Leoti, Kansas.
