Louis Joseph Baker, age 89, passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at Wichita County Health Center in Leoti, Kansas. Louis was born July 29, 1924 at the Baker family homestead near Marienthal, Kansas, the son of Anton & Caecilia Baier Baker. He was a famer/stockman and a lifetime resident of Wichita County, Kansas.
Louis was a member of St Mary Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus, both of Marienthal, Kansas. Louis truly enjoyed family gatherings, visits from his grandchildren and great grandchildren, as well as playing Checkers with his wife, Betty, and reading western books.
On November 22, 1949 he married Betty Lou Geyer at St. Mary Catholic Church in Marienthal, Kansas.

MaryAnn Winter- Leoti, Kansas
Celine Wimmer- Marienthal, Kansas
Imelda Smith- Marienthal, Kansas
Inella Scheffe- Marienthal, Kansas
Twenty grandchildren, twenty-seven great grandchildren
His parents, a grandson, Nathan Scott Koeperich, and seven siblings, Bernadine Pahls, Marguerite Zellner, Florence Zellner, Elizabeth Geyer, Pauline Baker, Anthony Baker & Marie Baker precede him in death.
Vigil services will be held at 7:00 pm Friday, February 21, 2014, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Marienthal, Kansas.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 am Saturday, February 22, 2014 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Marienthal, Kansas with Father Benjamin Martin officiating.
Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery at Marienthal Kansas.
Friends may call from noon until 8:00 pm Thursday and from 10:00 am until 5:00 pm Friday at Price & Sons Funeral Home in Leoti, Kansas.
Memorials may be given to Leoti EMT's, or St. Mary School Building Fund in care of the funeral home.
