LEOTI, KANSAS
LeROY (BUCK) ELDER, AGE 85, PASSED AWAY ON DECEMBER 7, 2005 AT THE WICHITA COUNTY HEALTH CENTER IN LEOTI, KANSAS. LeROY WAS BORN JUNE 8, 1920 IN WICHITA COUNTY, KANSAS, THE FIRST SON OF ROY E. & HELEN E. GRAHAM ELDER. HE WAS A WHEAT FARMER, RETIRING AT THE AGE OF 80 AND HE HAD LIVED IN WICHITA COUNTY ALL OF HIS LIFE. HE SERVED DURING WORLD WAR II AS A TUHRETT CAPTAIN FIRST CLASS ON THE U.S.S. COLORADO.
HE WAS A MEMBER OF THE FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH AND THA LIFETIME MEMBER OF THE LEOTI V.F.W. POST # 6752 , BOTH OF LEOTI, AND THE TRIBUNE GUN CLUB OF TRIBUNE, KANSAS. HE ENJOYED FARMING, TRAPSHOOTING, GARDENING, WOODWORKING, AND PLAYING CARDS WITH HIS FAMILY.
ON APRIL 20, 19 50 HE MARRIED MARJORIE BAKER AT LEOTI, KANSAS. SHE SURVIVES. OTHER SURVIVORS INCLUDE THREE DAUGHTERS AND ONE SON. BRENDA MOODY OF TULSA, OKLAHOMA, VAUGHN AND TINA ELDER OF LEOTI, KANSAS, KAREN ELDER AND RON RICE OF ANTONINO, KANSAS AND RICHELLE ELDER OF SANTA FE, NEW MEXICO. TWO GRANDDAUGHTERS, TISSHA BRUMM AND HUSBAND JOSHUA OF GERMANTOWN, TENNESSEE AND TIRRA ELDER OF HAYS, KANSAS AND ONE GREAT GRANDDAUGHTER JAYCI KATE BRUMM OF GERMANTOWN, TENNESSEE. HIS FOUR SURVIVING SISTERS INCLUDE RUBY WHITNEY OF NORTHGLENN, COLORADO, ALICE SUMMERS, BESSIE BURCH AND NEVA DUNCAN ALL OF LEOTI, KANSAS, AND NUMEROUS NIECES AND NEPHEWS. HE WAS PRECEEDED IN DEATH BY HIS PARENTS, SISTERS, ADDIE & LAURA AND BROTHERS FRANK, ELLSWORTH, RICHARD, LEWIS AND PAT.
FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT 10:30 A.M. SATURDAY, DECEMBER 10, 2005 AT THE FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, LEOTI, KANSAS, WITH THE REVERENDS ROLAND EMMOND AND PAUL McNALL OFFICIATING.
BURIAL WILL BE IN LEOTI CEMETERY WITH FULL MILITARY HONORS PROVIDED BY THE FORT RILEY HONORS DETAIL, FORT RILEY, KANSAS.
FRIENDS MAY CALL FROM NOON TO 8:00 P.M. FRIDAY AT PRICE & SONS FUNERAL HOME, LEOTI, KANSAS.
MEMORIALS MAY BE GIVEN TO THE WICHITA COUNTY HEALTH CENTER OR THE FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH IN CARE OF THE FUNERAL HOME.
