Lawrence E. Deaver, age 89, died Monday, April 15, 2013 at the St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City, Kansas. He was born July 30, 1923 in Logan County, Kansas the son of Ed and Anna Blau Deaver. Larry had been a resident of Garden City since 1948. He was a WWII US Navy Fighter Pilot and after the service was the owner and operator of Deaver's Retail Liquor Store for many years recently transporting vehicles for local car dealers.
He was a member of the St. Mary Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, American Legion, VFW, Moose Lodge, Eagles Lodge and the Elks Lodge all of Garden City, Kansas.
On January 18, 1947 he married Eva P. Jennings in Oakley, Kansas. She died Feb. 18, 2006 in Garden City, Kansas.
Survivors include:
One Daughter, Sue Deaver of Lakin, Kansas;
Two Sons, Mike Deaver of Sherman, Texas and
Tim Deaver of Garden City, Kansas;
One Brother, Dale Deaver of Levant, Kansas;
Two Sisters, Effie Clevenger of WaKeeney, Kansas and
Bernice Straub of Oakley, Kansas;
Nine Grandchildren, Fourteen Great-Grandchildren and Five Great-Great-Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, One Son - Jim Deaver, Two Brothers - Virgil & Gene Deaver and Four Sisters - Martha Crouse, Doris Wright, Elizabeth David and Aleen Frazier.
A Memorial Mass will be said at 11:00am on Friday, April 19, 2013 at the St. Mary Catholic Church in Garden City, Kansas.
There will be no calling times.
Burial will take place in the Valley View Cemetery in Garden City, Kansas.
Memorials may be given to the Church in care of Price & Sons Funeral Home of Garden City.
